an old rock

the morning bloomed
warm and tender

not a soul stirring
anything more than
the life they lived in

in the woods
a somnolent hum
borne not of insects
but the contented
solace
of a clear sky
beaming
great swathes
of golden sunshine
through a sweet young canopy
not yet two weeks old

i sat
in the simplest luxury
and dreamed
slow
day dreams
as shadows drifted
their soft grey fingers
across the moss
of an old rock

I have a particular passion for moss, Steven. I love the way it comes and goes with the seasons.

Riveting steven - so real - and so much beauty and truth 'captured' in the reality.

You are so right, Steven - one of the greatest luxuries is a simple life.

Lovely! 'not a soul stirring / anything more than / the life they lived in' is wonderfully ambiguous, at once soothing and disturbing.

reya - i love rocks and swo do my kids. this house has them scattered in and around it and so does my classroom. each has a story. my kids at school love to heare the story of their finding and then of their own history. my heart - i have a heart murmur that produces a slightly off the beat beat. one doctor said to me that that explained it all! cool guy. steven

sould's stir eryl. they stir the life they live in and that's how they become more than they are - well more of what they are. that's why they are here living inside these ridiculous bodies. steven
