the field, the trees and my body

i am standing in an old field
inside the house of me

having weathered all manner of storms
and days that i wished would never end

now the trees set their leaves on the ground

i feel the soft fingers of the sun
tracing their loving calligraphy
across my body

Steven, you have expressed precisely what I felt in my last walk in the meadow, the softness of the season! Your first two lines here just pull me right in.

We have all weathered storms Steven - and like you there have also been days so perfect that I wished they would never end. Lovely words.

mmmmmmmm...... I thoroughly enjoyed this earthy journey while sitting under florescent lights watching students match color to a photograph. Not bad as a job goes, but I would much prefer the wind & textures and patterns of the beautiful photos above... and could melt into your words.

ruth - the echoes of the surface features of the season drive deep into my physical self and my perception of other people's perception of that. steven

valerianna - this field, these plants, these trees, this shed all gathered together in the sunset last night and i felt each of them in my own body and was caught in the symmetry until i wrote this. steven

One of the pleasures of reading blogs taking place all over the world is the contrast. Our trees are still thick with leaves, although that is changing quickly. These bare-branched wintry trees allow the sunset to peak beautifully through.

bee - it's a gift - getting to feel the entirety of all four seasons simply by skipping from blog to blog. i visit my english friends because i left a large part of my heart there without knowing it and so i live vicariously through your experiences. steven
