when swimming
from bank to bank
is not an option
the little bridge
(which takes more time
and more effort to build)
repays its existence
over and over
which is why
(when i stand on it
and stare upriver
and out across the bay)
i feel gratitude
dancing alongside
wonderment

Oh! There it is. It took me a minute to see it. It must feel amazing to stand there and feel your own existence repaid!
A wee bit hidden.... like that. Have you seen the video about the people in India somewhere who make incredible bridges from the roots of living trees? They work for generations coaxing and weaving the roots from one bank to another. It brought me to tears watching it, so incredibly beautiful and wise. I thought of it with the words "which takes more time and more effort to build"....
What beautiful words steven - and how true. I love that little bridge in the photograph.
ruth - i've ridden by this little bridge so many times and on this one day it magically appeared alongside the little knowing that i share here. steven
valerianna - i went to watch the videos that you pointed me to and was stunned. their work will take five hundred years to come to fullness. wow. wow!!! but such worthy work. steven
ahhh weaver - you're as soft as i am. steven
Again, beautiful words Sir Steven!

erin! the underlying piece of insight that came a few days ago when i used my oblique strategies cards was "burn a bridge build a bridge". sometimes these things happen without my even having to light a match!!! i[m so fearful to cross bridges . . . i have to do so every day on my bicycle ... the metaphor arrives at key junctures in dreams . . . . some time i'll have to unpack it all here for you. steven
thankyou jj!!!!! steven
