spring rush

the outside edges of spring are so like falling in love
there's a kind of messy graceless abandon
in which nothing happens
that isn't intimately
and significantly
connected to the experience of love itself
and isn't that how it should be

always

after so very long -
searching in the darkness
for the slightest flicker of colour
until finally
with light's return
the grey scales
fall from your eyes
and the fullness of everything
crashes across the face of the world
accompanied by
a careless roaring for the sheer love of life itself

that it should be so kind
so generous
so laden with gifts
that one could be spared you

and why not celebrate that moment
as if it is the pinnacle of all possible moments
for surely it is that
and more
and so i say melt and rage and splash and dance
and sing your song as loud as you possibly can
because this is all of life as it is and always will be
in spring and in love

Splendid post! This season contains winter's sleep wakened, spring's dance celebrated, summer's maturing accepted, and autumn's plenty appreciated. Who can help being in love with spring?

pauline there are qualities of like that i feel for each season but love is reserved for the three whose names don't begin with a "w"!!! steven

I try to celebrate it, and most succeed. Some days though I balk, dig in my heels, pout, get moody.

Dang man.

Beautifully said, Steven, and perfectly timed for me to hear this advice.

I leave tomorrow to visit Reya for a few precious days, and while I know it will be tender and healing for me, it will also be a time of melting and raging and splashing and dancing and singing our songs as loud as we possibly can. That's healing, too, right?

Thank you for your time,

--I've read enough spring themed poems to be nearly sick on spring, but your verse rings true and melts, as if in a dance.

terresa thankyou. i wrote this in a rush - not hurried but it was all there and so i wrote it and it really is what i know i feel about spring and then so much more but the changes of darkness to light and grey scale to colour and the freedom to be more fully present - physically and in so many other ways is such a roaring messy abandonment of all of the restrictions of winter. well i had to share it. steven
