holds me

you'd know this feeling
if you dug deep enough into your experience
and thought through the likelihoods and the whereafters
and remembered
an embrace so thorough
that only your glittering
astonished
and completed eyes showed
above the surface

"oh be me
be you"

What a fascinating picture. (And your header fairly shouts of springtime - look at that blue!)

I was once hypnotized and brought back to my earliest memory of safety. I clearly saw myself as an infant wrapped in my mother's arms. Months later, my cousin, a photographer, sent a photo of the very same, from a collection of undeveloped film from my grandfather's time (he was also a photographer). Your photo and words brought that memory rushing back. Thanks :)

yesterday pauline - when i took this picture - it was distinctly springlike - just above zero, and the clouds looked and felt like spring clouds for sure. today it's snowing which is what it's supposed to do!! i am fascinated by experiences that trigger memories of other experinces. and this pauline is a powerful trigger!!! steven

Steven yes. Hold that memory close to your heart. I'm sure you do.

Do you know the poet John O'Donohue? I thought of you yesterday, listening to an interview Krista Tippett conducted with him shortly before he died. Couldn't stop thinking how much I wished we were listening to the interview together. Oh so STEVENesque were his thoughts and ideas and the poetic way he explained everything. Wow.

I streamed the interview three times!

How interesting that you post this today! I felt a very strong embrace from two total strangers this weekend, reminding me how we're all connected because we're human.

(Yes, my last blog post explains it all).

We all long for that "embrace so thorough."

Some must travel back to the cradle of the womb to feel it.

jo - i'd wish for everyone to know that embrace after they're born but i expect you're right . . . . steven
