mg is such an iconic brand of car and one that i always associate with a gently powered, quietly designed quintessentially english sportscar. the heritage is very deep as are the associations.
to be fair, i should mention that i am not a car owner or a driver. that having been said, i love car design so i was really excited to come across a lovely car that i didn’t know existed before - the 1953 mg td special clothed in a gorgeous lightweight aluminum body crafted by rocco motto and carrozzeria motto coachworks. while having had an obvious impact on the motor industry and having provided some very lovely cars, it is strange to say that there is little available on the history of this man or his coachbuilding house.
however, this masterful design is well-documented and so i’ll share some images of this very lovely motto td special as well as some other vehicles that motto crafted. first the lovely butter yellow mg td designed by carrozzeria motto . . .
