the mere presence of rain at night

i'm listening to the sound of rain

a heavy rain
characterized by the dense pattering of water falling onto the deck
accompanied by the lighter dripping
from the eaves

the night is entirely black
the moon
and the stars
lost behind the clouds
from which this rain is falling

i'm so grateful for all of this

its completeness
its necessity
its place in the whole of everything

I love the sound of rain...it's so soothing, somehow. Maybe its the steady factor...not the ebb and flow like ocean waves.

Sweet dreams, friend. :)

hope - i open the window wider no matter how cold or windy it is because the sound of rain has always been so good to my ears. i love to pul the covers that little bit higher when it's autumn and the nights are cool and the only sound is the sound of the rain falling on the roof and making its way through the gutters. steven
