closer

there are
hundreds and thousands
of coloured drifters
passing through
on their way back to earth

they stop outside
my front door
in raspy little clusters

sometimes

the rain pins them
to the ground
and they shine!

It's as if that leaf has its own source of light! Wow.

It's a late fall here, very few leaves have taken the leap. It's raining today; that'll take some of them down.

dan - there's a world of leaves swirling past my front door every day. i love to pick up handfuls and then mine down through them 'till i find the ones that "speak" to me. here's one! steven

reya - it was alone on the driveway, late afternoon. i got closer and closer and closer. then closer still. every layer revealing something more beautiful and tiny. steven
