finger bowl

my fingers slip
like soft knives
through its buttered glass surface

lifting them to my tongue
the sharp-edged tang of rock
cuts through
the dull earthiness
of last autumn's leaves

the trees
look on
in hushed expectancy

What a lovely way to start my day, a little piece of nature's magic, with an added plus of Steven's words! :)

so delicate- I travel with a loaf of bread exactly for these purposes, soaking up as much as i can- not delicate at all- rather piggy, one might say...but life is short, must gather as much as possible, you understand.
The west coast is looking forward to filling your coffers, you must come with several loaves!

Also your face with a leaf on top looks very like "OH NO Steven has met up with a severe injury" on my computer- looks like blood spatter. OH NO!I did panic until I biggened.

steven said...

linda sue - i love to eat and drink my way through experiences and processes. there's all sorts of food and drink so i choose the right kind for the purpose. oh and my face is fine - as fine as it can be. that's a dessicated leaf strategically placed across its right side to look different. steven

steven said...

valerianna you live in the fullness of time and the lushness of woods beyond my imagining. you express those vastnesses through your words and your artwork. you are an astonishing person! i'm grateful to the little rock and its cupped pool of water for reaching out to so many people today including yourself. steven
