my fingers slip
like soft knives
through its buttered glass surface
lifting them to my tongue
the sharp-edged tang of rock
cuts through
the dull earthiness
of last autumn's leaves
the trees
look on
in hushed expectancy

What a lovely way to start my day, a little piece of nature's magic, with an added plus of Steven's words! :)
Excellent photos! By the way...what's up with the Followers gadget disappearing on our blogs??
Rick

Gorgeous. I can taste it, too.

it looks like a shard of mirror laying on the gorund.
Trees are such voyeurs.
Thank you for the smile today, Steven.
uh ... wow
A precious well, Steven. Tasty.
Only you could take a photo like the first one and add words which made me....hungry. :)
Nicely done!
so delicate- I travel with a loaf of bread exactly for these purposes, soaking up as much as i can- not delicate at all- rather piggy, one might say...but life is short, must gather as much as possible, you understand.
The west coast is looking forward to filling your coffers, you must come with several loaves!
Also your face with a leaf on top looks very like "OH NO Steven has met up with a severe injury" on my computer- looks like blood spatter. OH NO!I did panic until I biggened.
ellen i was riding through some woods and it was like a semaphore as i passed trees. i went to see what was flashing and it was this tiny pool. steven
they're like parents. they need to know even though sometimes they watch with knowing smiles. steven
reya - there y'are! steven
ruth - i probably shared that water with several chipmunks and squirrels and who knows what else! steven
ahh hope i am often driven by my enjoyment of food and drink to see things as edible!! steven
linda sue - i love to eat and drink my way through experiences and processes. there's all sorts of food and drink so i choose the right kind for the purpose. oh and my face is fine - as fine as it can be. that's a dessicated leaf strategically placed across its right side to look different. steven
I needed these words at this moment.... thank you. Its wonderful, what can save us!
valerianna you live in the fullness of time and the lushness of woods beyond my imagining. you express those vastnesses through your words and your artwork. you are an astonishing person! i'm grateful to the little rock and its cupped pool of water for reaching out to so many people today including yourself. steven
Beautiful. My senses alive with your words shape shift with image and I am transported. Thankyou :o)!
