torque

there's a hard spin
in marina's writing
that torque's a moment
into a more
universal expansion
to describe at once
the instant
of knowing -

at its birth.

and at its death.

an expression of
the fullness of now.

you overshadow the sun in the sky,
in your hands, you hold the stars!
and wind-like, - i would like
to push your doors ajar,

and babble before you, and riot,
and lower my eyes by your side,
and weeping, suddenly, go quiet
as a forgiven child might.

I went there, so much to read; the first one, "In Paris" and so many more to enjoy, I'm sure! Thanks for the introduction, Steven!

What a wrenching biography at the link - a very tumultuous and unsettling life, ended by her own hand. Thank you for sharing her story.

Gosh, she did write a lot. I think more than most. And was she published as well?

I like learning new things. This post is one of those opportunities! I have never heard of this poet and I look forward to reading her bio - peeked ahead at a poem and I am smitten. Thank you!

WOW!!! I am left breathless by both your writing and the poem by Marina. BUT before I even got to either of those I read what you wrote on your sided bar and am left in awe and such a strong sense of myself as I read.

Powerful, powerful writing. You are gifted not only as a writer, but one who moves souls. You do not speak "AT" people you speak "WITH" people. Although it is more than that. Simply by being yourself you transfuse people with a great river of Life, which has intensely honest and emotional currents, currents that go far beyond any words.

Such beauty here.
Thank you SO much,
Robin

Okay, this will make you laugh. A few years ago, a friend bought a new car and in opening the door, the car spoke in a mechanically deep voice... "Door is ajar!" My friend said, "Stupid car! this door is no jar!" Of course, I burst in laughter and explained it to her. :D
Anyhow, loved both poems and thanks for Marina's link. Beautiful!

hi abe - yes she was fairly prolific and she was published as well. in her own words she wrote:
"Scattered in bookstores,
greyed by dust and time,
Unseen, unsought, unopened, and unsold,
My poems will be savoured as are rarest wines -
When they are old."
have a peaceful evening abe. steven

hey jenny stevning! i love that marina sees things that glimmer right at the edge of my knowing and she somehow expresses them so clearly and quickly but with grace. her work is not about surface beauty but dives deep into the murk and pulls out some gems. so there's risk involved in terms of how it affects you and what it addresses in you. have a lovely evening. steven

reya - you know that moment, those thoughts, those feelings don't you!! i do. when i read this i thought of the very edge of that moment of recognition, that instant of insight. gasp. i gasped as well!!! have a lovely evening in dc. steven

hello robin - thanks for visiting and for leaving such a lovely footprint! my wish for this blog has always been for me to be as present as possible in the words and pictures i write and share. i've been incredibly fortunate to have landed in a community that is very accepting, tolerant, kind, generous and in many ways like-minded. i don't know how much time i have so i choose to use the time i am given with whatever quality of goodness i can. this world matters to me! thankyou very much robin. you're an extraordinary person. steven

I was inspired to follow the link and dig more deeply into Marina's life. What a difficult life and what a tragic fate for one so gifted.

barry it's strange how that happens isn't it. it's almost as if people like marina have a finite battery life and use it up through the intensity with which they live and see. i'm thinking of people like hendrix and other famous musicians as i write that. have a peaceful (although very windy) evening. steven
