late in my high school period i fell in with the “fringe-players”. the artsies, the thinkers. this was a special sort of acceptance for me as until then i had pretty much figured i was on my own. nope. not so. to my great joy, i found out that there were others who loved poetry, art, writing, reading, music, and being absolutely and utterly themselves in a crowd of suburban nouveau riche conformists. no hard feelings exist in me about that awful period oh no!!!!
so in the middle of that was one guy whose name was art, i kid you not(!), and he cracked me open to the blues. sonny terry, the delta blues, blind lemon jefferson, and the mid-to-late sixties british blues musicians who turned into rock behemoths like the stones, and zeppelin and pink floyd.
in the middle of all of this was muddy waters. in the middle of muddy waters was the song ”mannish boy”. mannish boy was written by one ellas mcdaniel (a.k.a. bo diddley), mel london, and the final credit goes to mckinley morganfield (a.k.a muddy waters).
muddy waters died in 1983 but his legend lives on in part through the work of the people who maintain his website.

I had forgotten about Muddy Waters, Steven. Nice!
You wrote briefly about your late high school years. A tough period in anyone's life. There are a whole lot of people out there in the world, in my opinion, who discover only a few of the very many joys that life has to offer.
hi goldenrod, when i look back on high school - across a 32 year span - i can see the good things that came out of it, some of which show up on this blog. what didn't work was the social life, the economic disparities - i was at the lower end of a wealthy school population, and the actual education itself which was not what i needed. there's a blog entry in there somewhere that will take some time to arrive at but it'll almost certainly happen. hope your a.c. is running!! ours has been mercifully cooperative as we have hovered in the high thirties (celsius) for quite a while now and really need it to haul the moisture out of the air. steven
AC is nonexistent. (See my "Astros, Braves, Cubs ......" post for updates.) Have a few windows open (those that have screens) and a fan going. Will have ARS over tomorrow. Think it's only the thermostat, but what do I know?
"......a blog entry in there somewhere......" ??? Surely you jest! I'm approaching my 200th post now (any ideas?), some of them requiring hours and hours of thought and then rewriting, editing, etc. Not begrudging a single minute, mind you, but you might want to reconsider "a" post. Several (or even many!), I would wager.
tough break about the ac goldenrod. perhaps you could hire some manservants to wave great palm fronds over your head until they can get the machinery fixed!!! the high school "posting"?! you're right. it'll be a grand unpacking over many entries. my own son is just starting high school this fall and i hope (and believe) that his experience will be much better and more useful to him.
