cube carbon fibre urban street concept bike

cube bikes are not newcomers to the biking scene providing a very comprehensive range of bikes to lucky europeans. here’s a video of their high-end road bikes.

but what’s very cool and highly desirable that's coming out of cube is their latest concept bike . . . . .

the urban street concept bike.

right off the bat this is one purposeful looking bicycle, and not for the faint of heart but then when you consider that it is collapsible, you realize that it very obviously isn’t for the hard core racer or tour de france wannabe but is more for the type of person who lives in a teeny tiny little apartment and loves bike technology enough to spend more on a bike than on decent furniture - or a bigger apartment.

here’s the cube folding bike . . . folding . . .

the cube collapsible was designed by grad student gregor dauth in cologne who introduces his stunning new design right here . . .

this bike has a lot of really cool extras starting with the brake levers which contain led lights, as does the seat post, both of which are powered by a hub dynamo. it has front and rear disc brakes, and eight speed hub gears to get the beast going and to stop it. i’m not holding my breath that one will ever cross the big pond and land here in canada but i’d sure love to have the chance to test one of these for them!
