alfred hitchcock - shadow of a doubt

a cloudy day with a little bit of a breeze and i’ve noticed that my mind’s also a bit cloudy with little breezes of thought blowing blithely along. i’m close to holiday mode but still feel the urgency of achieving something and so lists are being drafted and checked off all over the house. this afternoon some plant purchasing and planting and then i’m going to watch a film . . . . alfred hitchcock’s ”shadow of a doubt”.
starring teresa wright . . .
and joseph cotton . . . .
shadow of a doubt is supposedly one of hitchcock’s favourite movies and was nominated for an academy award for best writing, original story.

the film features a bored young teenager, living in santa rosa, california, named charlotte "charlie" newton. charlie is frustrated because nothing seems to be happening in her life and that of her family. then, out of the blue she receives wonderful news: her uncle (for whom she was named), charlie oakley, her mother's brother, is arriving for a visit.

uh oh!
