finding my place

it's unimaginable
that i should find my place
again and again
and somehow
only begin to know that place
so well
and so thoroughly
after leaving it
and seeing it
in relief against the background
of all the possibilities
that were pushed aside
in my haste to arrive
and my reluctance to leave

It IS unimaginable, isn't it?

valerianna - it's the strangest feature to me . . and goes along with joni mitchell's words "you don't know what you've got 'till it's gone" . . . that i find myself treasuring what is . . . and then valuing it after i look around at what isn't . . . steven

the leaf almost looks like an insect.

we garner definition by comparison, i suppose. why don't we learn to not always journey toward definition? why do we always engage in haste?
