waiting for the rain

when i saw these leafless trees
and these billowing evening clouds
i was brought to think of people
reaching
for rain

perhaps a warm, gentle rain

perhaps a kind cooling rain

or perhaps they were wishing
for the simple touch
of a bead of water
tumbling
softly
from branch to branch
earthwards
onto their bodies

I do think N. C. Wyeth is up there helping God out a little with the scenery.

Moved by that last photo - and the words, of course.
Rain would help out here, but luckily we seem to have broken the drought and are getting a little rain now and again.

Thanks for the beauty....

The last photo makes me think of thin, nimble fingers reaching for a dream.

The photos are beautiful and the clouds ethereal. Thank you for the lovely pictures and poem. Sometimes I share your blog on gmail buzz. I thought I would share what someone in Poland said about it.

Zbigniew Wojtkowiak - it came to my mind me while reading the poem

The Parable of The Barren Fig Tree

Lk 13:6-9
He spoke this parable. "A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it, and found none. He said to the vine dresser, ‘Behold, these three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and found none. Cut it down. Why does it waste the soil?’ He answered, ‘Lord, leave it alone this year also, until I dig around it, and fertilize it. If it bears fruit, fine; but if not, after that, you can cut it down.’"

there is nothing like that bead of water, but we need just a bit of drying out around here. I never thought I would be thinking that given the drought we were experiencing. The whole cycle made me realize how imporant it was for me to let go, and let the universe provide the perfect balance (as it always does).
your photos and words are masterpieces.

to think as a branch might think - it's one reason I keep coming here to read. You are so in tune with life :)

I love these images and your words. I see the clouds taking on the shape of trees, "clothing" the bare branches.
