a week ago the cold snap appeared to have faded off somewhat. the snow on the street had changed colour overnight from crystal white to a pale brown, and i could see quite a bit more of the tarmacadam on the neighbourhood driveways.
i took the opportunity at that time (still being on holiday) to "beat the bounds" of my property - a walk that would normally take about fourty five seconds but which, when interpolated with photographic opportunities and periods of just plain stopping and looking at all the little animal tracks and whatnot, actually took five minutes.
