well we had a good fall of snow last night. the morning temperature is eighteen below zero and the sky is fairly blue.
it’s saturday.
last week was what i affectionately term “a five friday week.” i have nothing against fridays but in elementary schools of my experience and knowing, fridays tend to be difficult because there are so many variables colliding all at once. deadlines. accumulated tiredness. kids going to spend the weekend with “the non custodial parent”, the shift in gears from commitment to school work to commitment to home work. the list is longer than that but those are the major factors.
the weekend provides a sort of haven. a respite. a place to remember about breathing and other equally important matters.
so back to the snow.
i came across this truly incredible site that is filled with microphotography of snow. you will be gobsmacked stunned amazed and become more deeply appreciative of snow and all that it is. even if (like myself) you will shortly be shovelling several trillion of these little beauties into lovely white piles at the side of the driveway.

sleak, i can see you putting one of those snowflakes up on the smartboard and isolating all sorts of geometric shapes, lines of symmetry, angles... do again and again and then...
