comments

hello dear friends of "the golden fish" and "flow".

those of you who have been visiting for some time now will know that i am very particular about responding to every comment left. i place that expectation on myself because i think that that's appropriate.

with my return to active service as a teacher, my priorities are shifting ever so slightly, but enough that in order to make sure that my dawsonboy and lexiegirl get good dinners and time with their dad, that they get their homework done, and that my marking and paperwork stays current, i may be slower to respond to your welcome, encouraging, insightful, lovely and thoughtful comments.

i cannot express just how much those comments mean to me but i ask for your understanding as i will endeavour to respond to anyone who comments here as quickly as is possible. (that might sometimes be painfully slow!!!)

i will continue to post everyday and please continue to comment.
love and peacefulness,
steven

Another summer winds to a close and another school year begins... Autumn leaves, chilly evenings and long sleeves can't be far behind!

Hi Steven-- I can relate to the effect the school year has on one's time for blogging. I admire your intention to continue to post daily. Good luck in the coming school year. I hope you get a wonderful class.

hello golden west, i've been working at my school this week, preparing my classroom. i bicycle eight km there and an equal distance home. the morning ride has been quite cold (10 celsius) so i've been wearing long sleeves. how prescient of you to suggest that!!! the afternoon has been warmer but we've lost the summer heat for sure!!! today a cool rain is falling - as per my posting - and i will be working on school-and home related matters. thanks so much for your visit!! see you again. steven

dan, i recall you making a similar post a little whle back and part of my confidence in writing my "please understand" post here was a feature of knowing that people would understand. my expectations of myself as a teacher parallel those i have of myself as a husband and dad. the same degree of devotion, love, and care. it just seems right doesn't it!!! i'm so excited for the upcoming time with my class. i never sleep the night before the first night of school. thanks so much for this comment and for all your insights dan. steven

Life should be lived...not spent tied to a computer. :)

However, this is a fun place to visit and I can be extremely patient when it comes to replies from good people.

Okay, so forgive the new kid here but what do you teach? I actually have a degree in Early Childhood Education but alas there were no teaching positions when I graduated so my career took a...well, road less traveled. :)

Hope you have a wonderful school year!

hello hope - thanks for that!!! i have the privilege of teaching grade 6. my class is comprised of 10 - 12 year old boys and girls. the school is a k - 6 so they are "top of the heap" for one glorious year before they go to the intermediate school where they once again descend to the ranks of the lowest of the low. i love this grade level. i've taught other grades and had a blast but this one really hums for me!!!! i haven't really shared much of my working life on the blog and i might do some of that this year. thanks so much for your great comments hope. steven

Oh Steven, how sweet. I know how time consuming teaching can be and I shall not be the least bit hurt if you skip on my comments. Just tune in from time to time for me.
Those kiddos at school and especially the ones at home are most important... of course, blogging is our release & another way to stay connected to the world.
Have a great start to the school year! Lizzy :-)

oh hi lizzy!!! i'm going to see what i see but my intuition - informed intuition(!) is that i will skip sometimes and i feel that's wrong - almost rude - but it reflects my priorities so thanks for the support!!! steven
