being there . . .

“You will begin to touch heaven, Jonathan, in the moment that you touch perfect speed. And that isn’t flying a thousand miles an hour, or a million, or flying at the speed of light. Because any number is a limit, and perfection doesn’t have limits. Perfect speed, my son, is being there.”
― Richard Bach, Jonathan Livingston Seagull

duck landings

the little lake duck gang was out in force tonight . . . they took off as i arrived, and then they did a few amazing in my face fly-bys. but it was the grace in the sweetly flawed art of their landings that held me . . .

on the beach?

well, not quite. i saw this tree frozen into the river ice and was surprised when i looked at it here on my laptop to see that it looks like it is on a white sandy beach.

fountain ice reflections

i'll have to explain this image because it's kind of cool. what you see here is the reflection of the fountain across a thin skin of ice. for some reason the shadow allowed the camera to see the leaves underneath . . . the rest of the image is a thin cloudy film of ice reflecting the trees above . . . .
