there are times
when i catch myself
swinging inside this
heaven on earth
and it's all
too much to bear
let alone . . . to understand
and so i've found
that moving inside
the knowing
and looking at it
like it's a signpost
can be more revealing . . .
i get a point of reference -
sometimes
i even think i have
a clearer sense
of the point
of this place i call home
perhaps that's arrogant
perhaps it makes assumptions
i really shouldn't
perhaps it's about convincing
or reassuring myself
of a purpose
so far removed from my knowing
that the words and pictures
point in the wrong direction
i sometimes feel
what is beneath all of this
and wonder

thankyou mr. surprise. steven
I think you know a whole lot about everything, Steven. I do think you catch a glimpse of the bigger truths more often than most of us - and share those glimpses so perfectly.
love and more love to you today
I wonder these same things every day.
Ah...I found myself swaying back and forth as I read and reread this one.
I've recently rediscovered the joy of swinging on visits to the park with my granddaughter. There's something so rhythmic and comforting about just swinging, swaying, and feeling the breeze brush the hair away from my face...back and forth, back and forth.
It's a perfect metaphor for feelings we have on our journey of discovery. It's okay to feel the sway, and comforting to just let it happen and enjoy. Thank you, Steven.
I know what you mean. Sometimes I imagine that I can capture or manufacture delight. For me, it's a reliable warning that trouble is ahead. It's arrogance, or at least presumption.
Better to simply wonder and cultivate a "don't know mind" like a newborn's.
Steven, I love your new header. Each one is more lovely than the one before.
