shine in softness

our motion on the soft still misty river
is like rest in the liquid gloom

in silence is your stillness in the streaming
of light-whispered laughter all around

shine in softness to no waiting friend

"Liquid gloom" Mmmmm... wonderful phrase.

A magnificent photo, Steven. The central focus on the birds and the way the image is blurred around the edges is magical.

jinksy i liked that also. i don't tend towards gloom but i know so many people for whom anything wet that falls from the sky is best described by that word! steven

elisabeth thankyou. i'll be honest and say that i messed around with the original photograph for that effect. i needed it to open out the words. steven

You rearrange and pillage so well! Beautiful photo, tweaked just right- ART!
Your yearning for big water seems evident.

I don't know exactly why but that song "It's Just the Motion" by Richard and Linda Thompson (is that their name) came into my head as soon as I saw the picture here. Great song.

Great poem. Great image. Great.
