there have been times
when the world
has been available
to a means of experiencing itself
that asks the question
that has spoken from inside my self
for as long as i have known i am my self
and the question is -
can we find
within the expanse
of our lifetime
the will
and the wherewithal
to allow
a gracefulness of living
a simplicity
and a fullness
of being
in which the revelation
that is this place
is the elemental force
that guides our lives?
can we live with care despite all the distractions?

I've spent a part of this evening looking at the art (in books alas) of Georgia O'Keeffe - and to see these photographs of yours is pure magic! Thank you!
I hope so!
ha rachel! these were taken in my back yard last summer. the second is definitely in the lineage of georgia's work. but i'll never approach what she did! i love her work. steven
hello acornmoon! me too! steven
The short answer - yes, definitely! But there are many who take comfort from and seek the distractions, preferring "noise" over silence.
Silence is my refuge, to tell you the truth. I love working with the public, but it is in those moments of self imposed silence that I can recharge.
And if I didn't recharge...well, heaven help the public. ;)
Beautiful photos, as always.
What a well designed question! Too many people look outward for guidance when if we are still and listen the guidance can come from within, but it is difficult in this frenetic world.
tis not for the young.
I'm not sure which I love most, your images, or your words. Powerful post, Steven. (yes, I thought O'Keefe, as well)
That is the challenge- and the Chinese curse- "May you live in interesting times"- becomes evident..Distractions abound- craving for a simple house in the woods is valid.
The answer is a qualified yes. Provided that we daily renew our intention to do so, it is possible and hopeful at the same time.
We can do no more than try.
That is all we can ever do, in every way, in every situation, at all times. Try our best and be content with the outcome.
Thank you so much for repeating a recent post. I was very glad to get to know you better.
So beautiful! Wow!
Some of us can live with care, live consciously. You're one of the "us" who can. Some can't but they do the best they can, don't you think?
It's a formidable challenge. I LOVE this challenge.
