rose, carnation, fern

with the return of warmer weather
the pool has frogs and all sorts of bugs
spending time in it.
i was getting it ready
to be opened
so i pulled the collector bucket out of its little space and
inside the bucket was a semi circular chunk of absolutely clear ice.

i spent one glorious hour of my life
taking pictures of that piece of ice
in various locations in and out of my home.

over the course of time
it changed shape and even its internal architecture
veined with air bubbles and radiating striations.

today's set is of flowers around my home as seen through the block of ice.

roses, carnations and ferns.

Makes me think of Don Ho, Dean Martin:

Tiny bubbles in the ice
Make me feel happy,
Make me feel nice...

What an original idea and glorious way to capture a moment (or an hour as you say) on the cusp between winter and spring. Beautiful images. Visual poems

Ooh...pretty.

The last is my favorite. As if the rose is bubbling with life. :)

GAWD I love these! they are paintings and need to be plastered all over the inside of my head forever- I would have a dreamy vivatious attitude - a curious fresh way of seeing everything even the most mundane- even trash and redneck ruined coutryside would be interestingly beautiful. You are just so much fun to hang out with! thanks Steven!

wow, what a glorious set of photos. They would be fabulous in a line on the wall. I haven't thought of photographing anything through ice. In the cold spells, our water dusbin freezes at the top and I take it out and put it onthe grass. It can take days to melt and sometimes I end up with several at once! Buster likes to drink from that dustbin - so I have to keep it unfrozen!
