"ebb and flow" I love the way that sounds - romantic and poetic. No doubt, we are shaped by the intimacy shared with a lover. Maybe it's more than a lover? Maybe it's our soul mate that has the power to shape us? Or do we give them the power?
Amazing photos!
Steven, I am impressed with your ability to have a powerful and moving post every day.
The ice and the stones together are a long history lesson. Front your ice on the pond and river to the last ice age. They go together like bees and honey.
Ice and stones, water and rocks, wonderful juxtapositions here, Steven and all of it close to your mother's house. There are subtle layers here whose depths I can only imagine.
So beautiful, Steven - words and pictures. I hear we have small ice floes on the nearby Loughor Estuary - pretty rare for 'mild' South Wales! Sadly it's just slush in our street - that 'in-between' phase ... but there is a beautiful 'gold metallic' light over the bay.
hello sixpence - i think that with a lover there's shaping, with a soul mate there's flow. thanks for your kind comment. i love creating these posts - i feel fortunate that they resonate with people who see them!!! have a peaceful day. steven
hello rachel - i'm not as confident in my writing ability as i am in finding the words of others infinitely more insightful and articulate to match the images but i want to try so thankyou for your support!!! have a peaceful day. steven
hey lorenzo - now there's a burning question! i don't know that beauty is bound by scale but it's the format here that determines just how much beauty can be shared! have a peaceful day. steven
elisabeth - there are many many layers to this post . . . many of them are tucked away but with a little gentle digging hmmmmm. have a lovely day. steven
hi barry - soft and gentle persistence. wrapping and pulling away repeatedly until the stone turns to sand and then . . . . . beautiful words barry. thanks. have a peaceful and warm day. steven
I love the sound the stones make as the water rustles over them. We're having exceptionally large surf today and I'm heading down for a face full of spray and ears full of waves pounding on the shore.
hi steven..once again fabulous pictures...i love the last one...the earthy colours of the pebbles against the frozen icy shard with the pebble shape repeated....wow!! xx

hi dan - i carry lovely gentle memories of that day although it was bitterly cold with an easterly wind carrying freezing rain that stung like sand on bare skin! the pebbles and ice side-by-side were more beautiful than my pictures show. have a peaceful evening. steven

kay thankyou very much. i love the colours of sea pebbles and then too to hold them in the palm of your hand and feel their unlikely soft smoothness - well that's magic! have a lovely evening. steven
alaine - i guess that's true for you!!! wow i never considered how far out of my aussie friend's experience so much of what i post is!! have a lovely warm evening. steven

I love the colours in your images and the hard textures of ice and stone juxtaposed with soft sand and water, but most of all I was imagining the sound of the stones and ice drifts swishing and piling on the shoreline...

Ciao Steven!
these photos are enchanting, I like them very much. And the thoughts too.
Sorry for my English, but I am not so good...
have a nice day
I know you usually like to quote someone but I much prefer your words, and with these images they are perfect. I find the last one really beautiful.
What simple beauty you caught in these pictures, but how complex in its creation.
Is beauty always so spare and simple? It sometimes seems that way. Really beautiful, Steven.

Look at the polished stones. A lesson in shaping.
Beautifil post.

Lovely words, images, and musings to carry with me today, or to put on: like a comfortable sweater, gently worn.
amazing pictures as per usual.
