a beautiful day with lots of little fellow creatures to see and chat with.
this fuzzy little fella was crossing a nice warm granite boulder out back.
his distant relative the dragonfly wouldn't stay still.
something distracted it from the purpose at hand -
untul finally it settled with a dainty pose for the backyard paparazzi!
the ladybirds don't seem to mind if they rest on old, dry leaves . . .
or in a verdant, lush green leafy world.
closer to the ground, froggie . . .
and my litle peanut-eating buddy "chippy"
are making the most of a peaceful afternoon . . .
the way-up-there club generously provided late afternoon displays
that left the gathered bugs, amphibians, mammals
and especially this human being
full of gratitude and awe!!

and my daughter lexie loved the teddy bear on the left.

What a lovely experience to see these sweet photographs that show your observations of the day. I love the little froggie and also the cloud baby elephant. That is a gorgeous sky photo Steven. We also had a beautiful day here but I didn't get any photos since I was up to my elbows in plums. Have a lovely rest of the weekend.

My eyes must have switched off today . . . Elephant? Teddybear? Might manage a koala in the center, top to bottom, but am flummoxed as far as other animals. Has my imagination deserted me? Oh, wait a bit - by jove, I think I've got 'em! Normal service has obviously been resumed...

hi acornmoon, my little striped buddies are so cute and they become very friendly. this guy lives down by our swimming pool but spends his summers around our deck and in the gardens. in the wintertime we make sure that if he's not hibernating he gets taken care of. have a lovely cheshire afternoon. steven

hello jinksy - lovely to see you!!! doesn't it remind you of those computer generated pictures a few years ago where you had to let your eyes go out of focus and then all of sudden there'd be a really boring but 3-D image right there where before there'd been a bazillion little bits of pictures? do you remember those?

well abe nice to see you!! it's been darn cool 'round here some mornings recently. but head out at noon and you can still work on your tan, soak up as much vitamin d as you want as long as you keep yourself hydrated with cold drinks, and then around eight o'clock, head in for a hot coffee to warm up!! ha!! merry christmas to you to abe!!! steven

Maybe I've been teaching kindergarten too long, but I saw the teddy bear and the elephant immediately. Lovely images all. Steven, I love the way you have your eyes, heart, and mind open to the innumerable miracles always surrounding us. They're just waiting for us to notice them, and you do.

Just lovely to see you name the ladybird a ladybird and not a ladyBUG! Even after over 40 years of living in the US, there are still some American expressions that jar my English -born ears and ladybugs is one of them. Somehow that poem "Ladybird, Ladybird, Fly away home.." isn't quite the same when you put the word ladyBUG in there!

hi liza - you're so right - there's no handy blurring of boundaries between nature and us. it's all one and the same. that frog came swimming with us in the pool so many times. see i hardly use any chemicals at all in the pool so it wouldn't hurt the little guy!!! have a lovely evening. steven

Hi Steven~ I love the simplicity of this post--it gives us a chance to see the purity and beauty in the world around us. That elephant and teddy bear are remarkably right on! How about the first cloud? How about a rushing locomotive on the left and a crystal vase on the right? I haven't seen a fuzzy wuzzy in years! And the lady bug is so luscious on that green... the frog and chippie fill out the phylum of the Animal Kingdom! Our little family!

I have one I'm keeping as a pet...Not the most exciting creature, but fascinating to watch, particularly through the stage where they pupate.
hello dervish - he was a fast moving little guy as well!!!! i sometimes bring these guys into my class so the kids can watch the whole process. cool that you keep one as a pet!!! i wonder which of the butterflies they turn into? steven
