morning peace

there's a lovely big sky today.
you wouldn't think that earlier this morning,
fog had drifted lazy gauze fingers over my face and bare arms
as i walked through the nearby woodlot.

close to the earth, this little flower is speckled with quicksilver fog droplets

the hostas really appreciated the evening rain

the queen anne's lace which has found a home in my garden (despite
being classed as a "weed"), is looking forward to another day

i noticed that the cedar mulch formed into a triangle after
saturday afternoon's rain

and on the back deck, "longtail" one of three little chipmunks
who spend time with us, is tucking into his breakfast

breakfast is a great idea but i've got a big bike ride so i'll eat later.

Ohh, you put out 'goodies' for your little chipmunks! (You have a lovely back deck, by the way.)

It's off to beddie-bye for me. Have had a long day ... hopefully, will get a touch more sleep tonight that I did last night!

hi goldenrod, yes my wife and i leave little treats out for our three little buddies. they winter over in holes they have dug down by the side of our pool. in the summer our backyard is filled with their squeaks as we live our lives unknowingly interrupting their various activities! the little guy in the picture will actually come very close to us now that he's known us for a couple of years. have a lovely day and a good sleep!!! steven

hi delwyn, thanks!! saturday and sunday mornings have a unique feel about them regardless of whether i am on holiday or at the end of a working week. do you agree? sunday morning often has a very peaceful feel about it. a reflective and gentle feel. oh by the by, i should mention that my wife is now staying in maitland so she'll be breaking it to her hosts that she's vegetarian and doesn't want a piece of 'roo for dinner thankyou!!!! ha!! have a lovely day. steven

Hi Steven:

When there is love, beauty and peace on the inside, the eye can see little else. Thank you for sharing the peace and beauty in your environs this morning. Have an invigorating bike ride and I hope "longtail" saved you some breakfast!

Cheers! Bonnie

I take my waking slow.

hi bonnie, the clouds settled in and with them a doozy of a wind!! when i went out to check, "longtail" had snaffled up everything we'd left for him. i went down to the pool and helped a few frogs on their way and then had a lovely breakfast - of my own making. what a lucky man!!! have a peaceful day. steven

Did she warn them of her diet?

Many Australians are big meat eaters but roo meat is a bit of a tourist novelty, or petfood...

Happy days

hi delwyn, i doubt she said a thing . . . !! she is a grazer - she eats small amounts of food many times through the day. it makes for interesting meal planning on my part as i have a boy omnivore who favours meat, a girl who is also an omnivore but favours the veggie side of things, a complete vegetarian, and myself, an omnivore who tends towards the vegetarian side but will eat a steak once a month or so. i tend to make meals that at some point in their preparation can split in three directions!!! good times!!! steven
