true colours

an early morning arising after an evening of rain . . . . down through the garden to see what has been happening . . . .

i saw this beautiful flower - spiderwort - down by our pool and while i've had big issues with the spiderwort, which has grand ambitions for my garden that don't quite match those of my own, i was taken by the words frail azures that floated unbidden into my mind . . .

from my favourite ee cummings poem . . .

this is the garden: colours come and go

this is the garden: colours come and go,
frail azures fluttering from night's outer wing
strong silent greens serenely lingering,
absolute lights like baths of golden snow.
this is the garden:pursed lips do blow
upon cool flutes within wide glooms, and sing
(of harps celestial to the quivering string)
invisible faces hauntingly and slow.

these are a few of my garden's absolute lights . . . . ( click on the images to fill your screen)!

Isn't it strange that many irises and iris looking flowers are azure...
I wonder if Irises are only azure...no I have photographed ablue and a purple one...

Do you have a good camera - with lens, Steven?

hey sid, thanks for the nice comment. cummings has long been a favourite of mine. i have found that his words flow more easily than spoken language which seems formulaic and limiting. steven

hi delwyn, that's hilarious - i call it the daisy whatchamacallit. i have a nice camera but i left it at school on friday so i used my kid's camera which is a nikon something or other. my favourite camera is an olympus "e something or other" that you can add lenses to if you want. i couldn't tell you much about how it works though as i chuck instruction booklets out with the box into the recycling bin!! have a lovely sunday steven

Steve,

I'll bring your summer macro lens along when we connect on Monday. It should bring you some nice results for your blog friends to enjoy. And yes, I noticed your reasoning for the Nikon. A dedicated Olympus user simply would have taken the weekend off! (Just kidding.)
