riceboy sleeps

there's a real abundance of beautiful music emerging from iceland. how can this be? it's such a small country.

the music i hear that leaves iceland is at one and the same time very human, expressive, textural, highly detailed and suggests a degree of attunement to the little nuances of this world that is perhaps more available to people with space.

riceboy sleeps is a project of sigur ros singer jón Þór birgisson and his partner alex somers. if you aren't familiar with either sigur ros or riceboy sleeps then siouxwire has a really good and beautifully illustrated interview with jonsi and alex.

here are two video clips of music that will appear later on this summer.
