young car designers: 1947

i've always been fascinated by car design - especially how it's such a reflection of the times it emerges from.

if you can tear your eyes off the groovy po’ boy lids these guys are wearing and have a look at their handiwork, you’ll slip into a time that has passed us by. a time in which the future was truly exciting while the past was a source of rich, almost exotic fascination.

there’s a lovely informed naivete in the thinking of these young designers. read the text and see how they carved these beautiful models from hunks of balsa wood and spun aluminum.

i wonder where these models are now?
