the front lawn of the golden fish world headquarters is a small space to be sure. the details of that space are well known to me through frequent visits and a keen appreciation for the subtle changes that come either through seasonal change, or through my own handiwork, or through nature itself taking a hand.
the winter - and perhaps this winter more than others i can remember because of the amount of snow we have had - sensitizes me to detail. so much is obscured by the blanket of snow and ice that little things - footprints, shades of snow and ice, cloudbreaks, leaves lying in snow, shadows - all become amplified.
here are some pictures taken this morning of the plants that only a few months ago were waving in a warm breeze where today they are dried stalks, half buried in snow. their beauty is still apparent, albeit in a different way.
