in the course of my life’s reading, i have travelled through much, but only briefly through the work of p.d. ouspensky, a “pupil” of the russian philosopher mystic gurdjieff.
ouspensky . . .
for reasons that have much to do with what “feels right” i have connected more instinctively for the last twenty years of my life with the work of john bennett. it may be bennett’s englishness, or even because he speaks in terms that more closely parallel the practical application of the sufi concept of being in this world but not of it. for whatever reason it resonates.
john bennett . . .
that having been said, one of the more powerful works aligned with the fourth way was written by ouspensky. here is a useful synopsis of that book.
if you are intrigued by the synopsis and have a little time, then you may wish to view this serialized video of the movie of ouspensky’s book “in search of the miraculous”.
here’s what amazon has to provide by way of a preview:
“A film directed by Zivko Nicolic, script adaptation by Milan Peters based on the 1949 book by P.D.Ouspensky. Sidney:Fairway Films in association with Znak Productions Belgrade, 1998, 42 min. black & white.
