february presents

my little part of the world was washed with wave after wave of warm air that
drifted up from the southern united states.
travelling in its great arms were huge gift-boxes of colours and smells and sounds and a softness that i can't really put into words although if i said it was like walking through clouds of talcum powder
would you understand?

it lasted two days and in that time, each of the boxes was ceremoniously opened and the contents released to adoring children and adults alike who smiled even as the misty rains blew in and especially when the clouds scudded past and left a clear blue sky with mister sun looking shy and bashful as he looked at what he'd done.

"hey thanks for the nice days my man!"

We had the same experience in DC. Today Brother Wind is back, blowing cold air into the city.

Sigh.

reya there was something of a gift about the two days that i think was a simple act of kindness. i'll feel it that way! steven

You got the air that flowed up from here, bringing a little bit of RavenWood to you..... I hope we don;'t send you this next offering - howling, cold wind, twisting, blowing trees, and a long night of waking up to bumps and branches hitting rooftop, hail and frightened furry friend!

thanks for the wish valerianna but the night was torn apart by a hungry wind that ate up all the warmth and threw things every which way on its quest!!! the air is crackling and ice-hardened. steven

I'm glad some of my southern air made it all the way up to you.

ellen - i swear i could hear frogs and the whooshing of air through deep grass, smell the sun-warmed weeds. steven

I'll tie a ribbon on today and push it your way! Unseasonably warm here, probably a high of 74 today [23C]. Yesterday we almost set a record with 79 degrees!

Shoving some pretty blue sky your way for a lovely weekend!

something very strange is happening to our weather, we are getting very cold spells, not our usual North Atlantic Drift which sometimes blows the talcom powder over here.

I would urge you to have a go at wood engraving, you need very little outlay, just a few tools and a little block of wood. I am well and truly hooked.

aguja - i'll take even a slight wisp of warmth at this point in the winter!!! thankyou for your kind comment. steven

We had more than a week of very warm weather (record setting near 80° F) a few weeks back. Then, BAM! rain and cold wintry weather, as if our sweet Mother e\earth is having fevers and chills.

Isn't warmth and sunshine brilliant when it comes!
That final shot is magnificent.

Yes, Steven, these brief respites from a difficult winter are precious gifts, indeed.

We have much to be grateful for as we behold the treasures within these gifted days.
