we return

i set my foot gently
inside the great holy place

cold as marble skies
lost in soft
pure smooth as pale alabaster

sheets of snow

and with my heart
pouring out all the prayers i can think of
i listen hard
and the only answer
i can see
is a piece of the moon
cold and crystaline
nestled in the dried fingers
of a sleeping plant

and in that cold dry embrace
i can feel
the love of all things
for everything

for surely
they know
that one will return
as a nurturing raindrop
the other
as the flower
drinking the raindrop
into its body

"for surely they know..."

I've always thought so, too but never moreso than when I come here to read.

hi pauline - the interconnectedness of all things, the mutability of their place and especially the small and great loops that bind the surface have long fascinated me. i like that as i get older i get to see more of all of these things. steven

all connected, intertwined, co-dependent ( which seems a thing not to be) we are all in this together for the time that we share.. If we don't understand that all we need do is take a walk through Steven's blog- it is a treasure map.

What goes around comes around Steven - the seasons are no different - soon it will be the spring and the ice will go and the flowers will appear. Everything has its time and its place - your words express it beautifully.

There is so much kindness and beauty in the natural world. Your poetry always points the way to restoration.
Peace.

You're killin' me, Steven. My head is like one of those goggle heads, bouncing around. How do you do it? Day after day.

You know everything.
