reflections

my morning rides to school have developed little tangents.

you might recall from an early september posting
that i have a route
which i more-or-less follow every day
to get me to and from school
with a minimum of fuss,
and with an eye
to arriving at either end
of my day
intact.

i'm not really sure
i can explain why,
but i've recently had
an overwhelming desire
to be near water.

to see reflections
in the water.

the muted hues
of riverside trees
dipping
fingers
hands
arms
into the river's
silver grey
flow

and the ink splatter
of a leafless
tree

are all so
beautiful to me
in the still
of a late autumn morning.

These images are just lovely Steven. I also enjoy reflections very, very much. And when I open my eyes I see them everywhere. Even the reflections of traffic lights in puddles are beautiful.

Ahhhh...bodies of water!! A whole new territory. If it is not the trees and leaves that keep me sane and anchored, it is bodies of water...big, small, physical presence or photos... moving or still. It is all good! You're speaking my language! :) I love the reflections...literally and figuratively.

But wouldn't that be "beautiful to me in the still of an EARLY autumn morning?" I would guess that your commute to work must be very early in the morning.

Anyway, I love the reflections of the trees in water. Water is such a beautiful part of our world. I cannot resist the need to go out on the water on a regular basis.

You are a seeker of beauty, my friend, and it has called you off your path to be a witness. Only those who listen are so blessed. Happy riding!

Hi Steven

your inky reflections are like items from a Rorschach test...

Happy days

I too, could be tempted to detour for such scenes of Autumn beauty. Water anywhere, at any time, is a magnet for a Piscean like me!

hi joanna - lovely to see you!!! my absolte favourite reflections are the very old-style christmas lights reflected in puddles. it takes me back to my english childhood and my first sight of electric christmas lights in the centre of manchester. have a peaceful day. steven

hi jenny stevning, as i get a little bit older each day, the urge to live near some water grows stronger and stronger. even if it's a pond on some property, i'd be happy!!! i'd spend my day sitting nearby. i cross a river every day to get to school and i love that to the north it is still and slowly moving and to the south it picks up speed as it hurtles over a dam and spreads wide and curvy all the way to the next big lake about fifteen miles south of here. have a lovely day. steven

hi dan, you're a sailor! the pictures were taken early in the morning but in mid autumn!! i leave home about 7:30 - 7:45 and it takes me around half an hour unless i stop to look at whatever catches my eye along the way, or take a detour or simply slowwww down. you almost certainly know all of those expereinces in your journeying towards the kindies!!! have a lovely day. steven

hi kathleen, i love this little dteour quite a lot and i;m trying to take it every so often so as to see with open eyes. i've found that repeated visits to anything make it more a part of the visual wallpaper to my mind and i miss the details and moments that make it so beautiful or special. have a lovely day. steven

it's funny jinksy but you remind me somewhat of my aunt margaret who is also a piscean. i love being near water in any form, for an y reason, at any time. even little puddles are magnets for me. i'm a leo. i expect the fire in my sign needs some calming down!!! have a peaceful day. steven

Perhaps you're pulled to water because water means life and lately you've been surrounded by death - even the season speaks of transition and letting go. Gorgeous post, as always.

It certainly doesn't seem weird to me that you want to be near the water. Water is the element of soul - why wouldn't you want to gaze at the reflections?

Beautiful images! Wow.

AHH, puddles, you bring back beauty muddy memories. I too love the water, must be close in body also. On the water is highest of spirit for me. These are beautiful pics. I'm so happy you are tall, it's the only reason you ever make it to school! xoxo

They remind me of some of my favorite Japanese art.

Do you pass these wonderful places on your way to school steven? If so, I am amazed you ever get there - I would be so enthralled by the beauty of those places that I would forget where I was supposed to be going!

Hi Steven! I enlarged that last photo--amazing! The reflection is stunning, and there are little autumn leaves floating by.
In yoga, water represents the sacral chakra or the pleasure of life. Think of the lotus thriving in water. Or maybe it's balancing your Leo's fire, as you said above. Your subconscious is talking to you!
