way back in february of last year, i wrote about the morgan car company and its latest project "the life car". well i recently came across an amazing video that adds so much more to that entry and so i thought i'd share it here. this extraordinary animation reveals the inner workings of this incredible car, the latest to wear the redoubtable badge of the morgan car company.
here's the text accompanying the film:
created by jon wells, transport design final year student at the university of huddersfield, school of art design and architecture. the morgan life car is a revolutionary fuel cell concept which premiered at the geneva motorshow 2008. during placement at morgan, I was responsible for realising the design from early sketches into alias. by taking scaled cross sections of the alias model, a replicate wooden 'buck' was created which provided the panel beaters with the jig to accurately craft the aluminium panels into shape. i then animated the alias model in studio max, showing the car build up around the fuel cell. this animation was played alongside the final car at the geneva motorshow 2008. continued work with morgan includes their support with my major project; a sustainable sports car focusing on adapting to the owners various life stages both physically and aesthetically.
