october

october breathes in and out
through dove grey skies
painterly oranges and golds.
nightstories are written in
the translucent spiderwebs of
frosty residues.
leaves drift from spindly inkblot branches.
the days end in salmon grey skies
seba by hiroshige

in the autumn i know my subdued self.
the quiet one.
the shadow who dances
through
the wheel's distant reaches.

i know the dark frames
of my kaleidoscopic self.
the lines between the coloured speckles.

the coloured speckles of pure light, pure joy, pure love,
that you and i share
on our passing through this place.

i celebrate - excerpted from "song of myself"

i celebrate myself, and sing myself,
and what i assume you shall assume,
for every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you.

Hi Steven

The words before the Whitman excerpt I imagine are yours and they are lovely.
the 'night stories written in
the translucent spiderwebs of
frosty residues' conjures up a chill morning scene lit by weakening autumn sun...just lovely my friend...

Happy days

It's a salmon gray sky here this evening, with a few speckles of rain. Happy Weekend to you and yours, Steven, my friend!

hello jenny stevning, the autumn compels me to really look for colour and texture and that's from the visual through to the emotional. it's my favourite time of year because it hovers on the cusp of joy and sorrow, beauty and starkness, the outer and the inner. some of that has to do with the practial fact that it moves from physically comfortable to physically challenging here. part of that has to do with the loss of certain freedoms. at the beginning and the end of each day i say a whispered thankyou for the fact that i am alive. have a lovely autumn evening. steven
