i saw these pigeons
clinging to the wires.
facing the rain.
do you know that feeling . . .
clinging to the wires
facing the rain.
buson's poem paraphrased:
an evening cloudburst
pigeons cling desperately
to trembling wires

Oh, yes! I know that feeling! That was what I was doing all summer.
Yes!
Incredible picture steven, it looks to me like some kind of sky code, or a music score.
yep, I know that one. The flip-side of fall, with its spectacular colors and gentle days.
hello jenny stevning . . . there are periods of life that feel like that and in fact are like that! have a peaceful day. steven
hi titus - these birds were at the end of the street on my bike ride home. i thought of music when i saw them stretched out across the wires. so cool that you see that! steven
hi nanu - the flip-side mmm hmmmm!! i love the rain - especially the warm earthy summer rains. these are much cooler and are really good to sleep to, and are really good for waking up to, but not as good for riding along busy city streets to!! have a lovely day. steven
Steven - a great depiction of a reality most of us face at some time or other. Your photo is a stark reminder of darker, desperate times.
Riding a bike in the rain can be challenging, especially if cars are throwing spray from puddles and the road is slick with oil residue. Take care out there, Steven!
Sometimes I do face into the rain, and cling tightly. Other times I turn my back on it, get off the wires and go someplace more substantial and sheltered.
It depends on the particular rain, and whatever mood I'm in.
Beautiful pic, Steven and beautiful thoughts, as always!
Oh yes. Facing the rain. Just hunker down and get through it.
Seems the story of my life, these days, Steven!
I know that feeling very well Mr.Steven.
Hi Steven! Very challenging! What I'm feeling today looking at this image and reading these lines is how much stronger the individual feels by being with all the other birds, more protected, more we're-in-it-together. I also think they trust their instincts more that we do; they know when to fly, when to line up on the wire, when to huddle closer together... I connected to this post and thank you, Steven!
hi everyone - thankyou so much for your lovely, generous, kind, insightful, thoughtful and truthful comments. i wake every day and return home at the end of every day looking forward to the words of the small community i am a part of. this morning my essence sister ali - handfasted to my bruvver david - flew away. her body struggled to fight brain cancer. ali was an amazing woman. amazing!!! everything was done with joy - she never ever said anything negative or hurtful about anyone. i loved being around her even though the energy level was intimidating and sometimes even embarassing. ali would be just as likely to be at the burning man festival as she would be at a drum circle. my bruvver was by her side for six months nurturing her body, treasuring every moment with her spirit. but she had more work to do elsewhere so she left her body behind around 7:10 est. so i'm feeling like i did when my dad flew away last christmas - elated that she has left behind a body that had done all that it could to allow her to pursue her soul's work, while at the same time feeling a deep sadness for the loss of her physical emotional presence in the life of her family, my family, her friends, her essence brothers and sisters around the world and especially my beautiful bruvver david. i have gained an even deeper admiration for my bruvver through his unstinting love and devotion to her. i'm sorry for not replying to each of you as i choose but i need space and silence tonight. love steven
sending you love, enjoy the silence
thanks stacey j.
yes I do know the feeling, very atmospheric photo
