nick lu

i came across the work of illustrator and artist nick lu recently and i love the way he thinks.
using a simple colour palette and an insightful way of seeing and then representing the world,
lu compels the viewer to see a multilayered visual message
which in turn opens up a whole layer of discourse at a deeper level.

here are a few of my favourite things!

keep an open mind.
a challenge at the best of times.
but worthy, and certainly something to remind the rest of the world about!

this untitled piece makes me flip from picasso all the way to thinking about the world inside. i love this one.
a long way home.
some days it certainly is a long way home.

on many different levels!

to learn more, see more and even buy more then visit nick's website.
nick has an etsy shop.
he also has a very cool and happymaking blog!

I love his color combinations, particularly the pink and gray.

You are making me think, and see, early in the morning, before my first coffee.

Ow, my head hurts.

But I think I like what I see. Or do I?

I especially like this second intriguing piece of Lu's. Yes, very Picasso. Thanks for the introduction, Steven.

Gorgeous fall day down here. Hope it's the same up there for you!

Hi Steven~ I took a gander at his blog, and he's being published everywhere! Very original work, and always tongue in cheek. I love how his arm completes his face in the first one here--what do you thnk the blue ink spot is on the back of his head? A feather? A pony tail? Good stuff!

I like the open mind one very much. Such unusual, and stiking, colours. Thanks for pointer, steven. And have a lovely evening?

Mmmm, I'll go and have a look too.

Steven, pop over to cesandherdishes.blogspot.com and look at her oil paintings, so reminiscent of Picasso. She does some wonderful, intricate pen and ink work too. Worth having a long browse.

Nick's work is compelling. I love the colour, and versatility he shows in the pieces you chose, and I especially love the second piece. Looking inside. What an incredible perspective he has.
Thanks for sharing Steven!
