the pinhole camera has been around for a very long time (some suggest as early as 500 b.c. but don’t ask for proof!). i’ve seen pinhole cameras, even seen the photos that emerge from them, but i’ve never actually used one and i might just be on the cusp of trying my hand at building and using one.
while wandering around some very cool sites connected to paper sculpture i came across this awesome opportunity offered by the good folks at corbis. downloadable pinhole cameras complete with instructions! all you need are several sheets of printer paper, a cereal box, a knife, glue or double-sided tape, a pin, a piece of aluminum foil, some iso 200 film, and a film canister.
here are a couple of the very playful and attractive designs . . .
if you hurry you’ll be able to get your entry in to the world pinhole camera day exhibition. do you want to know more? then you should definitely go here to this very comprehensive listing of all things pinhole!!
