Mid winter is precarious. Good thing I'm toeing the line of summer over here. Belated Happy New Year, Steven.

Can't really tell from the abstract quality of the photo, but, still, the thought of crossing over that is daunting!

valerianna - the lock is crossed over a bridge that is wide enough for one person and has railings on both sides. it's part of a longer path of a few kilometres that winds alongside the river through woodlands. it's very very quiet in the wintertime. a big attraction for me!

The railings make all the difference in thinking about crossing!!

You hearty soul! The quiet is most appealing to me as well but to get there ...I am a wuss and a moaner,I would have to be carried in a chariot of fire... So, you must do it , for all of us who are inept cry babies. Quiet is so difficult to access these days- planes overhead, machinery everywhere, monkey chatter in between ears.

oh linda sue the monkey chatter i get to listen to comes from my own mouth! yup, i talk to myself when i'm riding . . . so the quiet ain't really alllll that quiet! steven
