leave it any way except a slow way

“i have learned that if you must leave a place that you have lived in and loved and where all your yesteryears are buried deep, leave it any way except a slow way, leave it the fastest way you can. never turn back and never believe that an hour you remember is a better hour because it is dead. passed years seem safe ones, vanquished ones, while the future lives in a cloud, formidable from a distance.”

She may have something there. I had to leave my beloved home but the process was cruel and drawn-out. Any happy memories of that place are tinged with the sorrow that followed.

Not so sure this is within my nature.... I'm too much a sentimentalist. I'll leave this philosophy to the process of taking off a band-aid, and look back often and longingly at life.......

We can never go back- realized this and am OK with it- fleeting days sunset sunrise and all that - be ever present - I have gotten over sentimentality and nostalgia because the forces that be dragged me along into the next set of circumstances. It is like a long bike ride I reckon- we do not peddle backwards. Next.

the going back that there is, has more to do with refined memories either making the experience worse or better than it was . . . keep on moving on . . . look back out of curiousity and maybe even to learn something but i like the future to feel free to reach back and pull me forward . . . steven

Wise words indeed. I have been in this situation several times and I do firmly believe in the philosophy of "never turn back" Steven.
