the hope

this is what i know:

this fragile neural tracery
carries the sputtering arcs
of spring's promise
as surely
as i carry the hope

Those tiny buds, the rounded edges of each wiry branch are filled with that hope, Steven. It can't be far now. As my daughter reminds me, here in Australia, it's the last day of summer. For you, the last day of winter.

"fragile neural tracery"

Beautifully expressed and totally apt.

Certainly as surely.

I love the way the branches fracture the sky, like cracks in the ice.

Wonderful! The delicate tracery, the spare but perfect words - well done!

Except for the maple trees, it's all still dormant here. Buds are swelling but no spring green yet.

looks so dead, but every death promises a new beginning.

The angle of the sun is unmistakable even to we humans. I know those trees have noticed, too. Spring will come again, it will!

The strength in this poem is found in its brevity. The minimalist pictures are also striking. Bravo!

How sad life is when we plod through it without hope. I carry some with me every day - hope of spring, of peace, of a day in which I make someone feel appreciated.
