from the beautiful confluence of writer and artist comes this amazing rendering of basho's ranga entitled "winter days" in its animated format.
"the creation of the film followed the traditional collaborative nature of the source material -- the visuals for each of the 36 stanzas were independently created by 35 different animators. as well as many japanese animators, kawamoto assembled leading names of animation from across the world. each animator was asked to contribute at least 30 seconds to illustrate their stanza, and most of the sequences are under a minute (yuriy norshteyn's, though, is nearly two minutes long)."

I LOVE these, Steven! In Part 1, I laughed out loud when he gathered some of the fallen leaves up in his hat (But they don't call it a "hat", do they? I forget what they call it.) and then placed it back on his head.
In Part 4, one of the details I particularly enjoyed was seeing the chassis of the truck go down when the driver got in.
How many parts will you have in this "Winter Days" series? This time I'm not going to scroll on ahead all by myself and swallow every video all in one gulp. Japanese poetry, prose, and art are meant to be enjoyed and savored in small sips.
they are really clever and full of little quirky details aren't they!!! there are lots of parts goldenrod but it looks like they will be spread over four posts. i appreciate that you're going to show some uncharacteristic restraint goldenrod!!!!!
