the carol burnett show was one of my favourite programs as a kid. it was mainly due to the antics of the two people in this clip. the inability of harvey to stop laughing when tim did something funny was worth watching, but tim's very physical humour was outstanding all on its own . . . here they are sharing a trip to the dentist . . .
MESSY BOOTS AND POCKETS OF JOY

My tummy hurts from laughing so hard. I've seen and heard these many times, but they're always funny. Now, the English fellow with the rubber lips I've never seen before.
He reminds me of Anna Russell. Someone once said she had a rubber face. Are you familiar with the name Anna Russell, Steven? British. Hilarious. Poked fun at the music world big time. I guess one of my all-time favorites was her treatise on the bagpipe, out of the series "Wind instruments I have known," she said.
hi goldenrod! i'm not familiar with anna russell and trusting your judgement, 'i'll be making an attempt to familiarize myself with her.

Good morning, Steven!
I googled Anna Russell earlier today. She lived in Canada (Ontario) for much of her life. I had forgotten that. I knew that she had died, but couldn't remember when. It was in 2006, at the ripe old age of 94.
Her heyday was in the 50's, when I was studying music. I have three of her albums.
Going back to her treatise on the bagpipe for just a sec, she likened playing the bagpipe to smoking a pipe in that "there is far more fiddling around with the equipment than there ever is in using it".
If you like that particular brand of humor, and I think you do from reading your posts, you'll like most of her stuff. :)
wow goldenrod thanks for your sleuthing!!! i just got in from a bruiser of a day at school and now i'm all pumped up to dig into this fave of the goldenrod. canadian as well!!! what a good long life she got - i always accredit that to joy and sharing the same with others.
