mia scheffey's painterly dance

i’m liking mia scheffey’s work with its layered swirls and whorls through which deeper layers alternately glow and hide. the effect of her work is like watching koi swimming in a pool, seeing the embers of a forest fire flailing wildly through the air, or observing the slow, silent dance of autumn leaves drifting in a forest pool.

The second reminds me a little of a Nierman, particularly the bottom third.

The "vast resources of the Goldenrod research and development department"???? Surely you jest. Hope you were, anyway, because I was laughing my head off down here. Nah, my comments and posts -- usually -- are all from my memory banks, which at this point are still sharp, thank goodness. I did a six-part series on "Pyramid schemes" from March 15th through March 19th, three of which directly pertain to the art business (which I was in at the time). If you're interested in reading those three, you should be able to find them at http://goldenrodsthoughts.blogspot.com/search/label/Art. In part four (2nd paragraph) I refer to "One of my best customers" ... it was he to whom I sold a Nierman.

the "r and d dept." comment is a euphemism for memories, experiences, and whatever else!! when you reflect on the wealth of knowledge contained in your head and body it leaves you (can i say this) gobsmacked!! that's where the blog becomes an unpacking of that wealth - a revealing, a sharing, and sometimes an unburdening . . . almost a case of "here, you take it".
i'll definitely take some time later today to wander through your piece on pyramid schemes. my own place in the art world has been chiefly as a creator of art, but in the past few years i've begun purchasing. i keep the process simple and cheap and will at some point in the future reveal the "riches" in a posting!
