paul joseph constantine gabriel


i came across the work of belgian artist paul gabriel (1828-1903) quite by chance today. hurray for chance!!!

  1. Interesting, Steven, how that bottom painting shows it can be found @www.russianpaintings.net ... wonder if his work was appropriated by the Russians. (?) I like this artist. Look like oils.

  2. hi goldenrod - yeah i like this work too. a strong presence can be found at the rijksmuseum in amsterdam which i visited as a teenager in the early seventies. i have no doubt that some of his work is in russia. a lot of amazing pieces are stored or on display in the hermitage, among other places.
