i have a strange and wonderful story to tell you tonight . . . it begins last night when i recieved a facebook message from my friend tracy, the proprietor of kyoto coffee. tracy wrote to let me know that she believed that she had just seen a painting of mine at the value village consignment store. she included a photograph.
as soon as i saw it i recognized the piece as one that i had sold to peter robinson college (trent university) back in 1981. at the time they had generously coughed up fifty dollars (which translates in current dollars to around $136.00).
tonight wendy and i made our way over to value village and sure enough, there it was. a drybrush watercolour rendering of my then deep passion for russian suprematism, alexander calder, and several others.
very reasonably priced at $6.99!
so of course i bought it.
