sumac . . .

among the many incredible beauties of autumn . . . sumac begins early and lasts for so very long  . . .
golds, cadmium yellow, salmon pink, crimsons and even flickers of green . . . .

so much is unfolding . . .

riding in this morning . . . .
feeling how
so much is unfolding.
feeling gratitude
for all the challenges
and possibilities
being given to me . . .

then home to read ancient japanese haiku . . .

"a red leaf falls
showing off...
summer trees"

my mum's birthday

my mum is my anchor as my life
is filled with all the wonderful and trying challenges
that this world has to offer.

today is her eighty fifth birthday . . . .

now let me be clear here.
it's her body that's eighty five years old -
her head and her heart are much much younger . . .

she is simply, an amazing person.

as i have the privilege of learning about her life,
and gaining a more solid understanding of how she is who she has become,
i am compelled to wish for many many more years with her
so as to continue to share the unfolding of each of our lives . . . .

i love you mum

the little mushroom

down very close to the ground . . .
this ever so teeny tiny singularity of a little fungal node,
passing stories between the trees . . . .

whe we stop

it was a beautiful sunny day, the air was warm, the woods almost silent but for the rushing about of the squirrels and chipmunks and the far off cries of children playing.

faded flowers

sustained by the love they arrived with,
when they fade and die,
they somehow miraculously live on . . . .
