Wondering about the "purpose of sleep" is a worthy wonder. There are rare nights when, knowing I don't have to work the next day, I sit subdued, in subdued light, and simply listen to the darkness. There is, I suspect, so much to gather from that experience, yet my eyes become heavy and sleep I must.
this was written by a person who rarely sleeps through the night!! i love the difference though in experiencing "i should go to sleep because" as compared with "i'd like to go to sleep now". steven
